IFRIT

Dominant: Clive Rosfield

The firstborn son of the Archduke of Rosaria. Though all expected him to inherit the Phoenix's flames and awaken as its Dominant, destiny instead chose his younger brother Joshua to bear this burden. In search of a role of his own, Clive dedicated himself to mastering the blade. His practice pays off when, at just fifteen years of age, he wins the ducal tournament and is dubbed the First Shield of Rosaria—tasked to guard the Phoenix and blessed with the ability to wield a part of his fire. Alas, Clive's promising career is to end in tragedy at the hands of a mysterious dark Eikon, Ifrit, setting him on a dangerous road to revenge.

Interviewing The Artist:

How did you decide to represent the Eikon assigned to you?

Ifrit in this last chapter is very dark, but at the same time glowing, shines with an internal fire that explodes from the cuts of his body. So, it was a challenge to find the best solution to represent it in a definite way without sacrificing the intensity of its colours.

What elements did you choose to best represent it and why?

The eikon assigned to me was Ifrit. A creature dominated by the element fire, so the anthropomorphic head of the subject was represented with a lava effect, as if it were incandescent rock immersed in a blanket of tribal flames, like its horns.

What materials did you use for your custom?

To give back the strength of the colours I had to go for a mixed technique. Above all, give up the use of water-based acrylic and create some layers with acrylic enamels, much brighter even if more complex as use.

Divide the creative process into steps

Finding the best solution to represent Ifrit was a great challenge, because of its indefiniteness as a fiery beast in explosive flames. So initially there was a great deal of research about how I could represent in a definite way such an elusive and indefinable subject.
