Luca Barcellona Kaito FW25

In Kaito's post-apocalyptic landscape, Luca Barcellona brings his masterful touch to our pieces: discipline, artistry and technique enrich the FW25 collection.

A master of italian lettering, Barcellona draws great creative inspiration from the Japanese tradition: his wide experience in Japan has allowed him to exchange knowledge with theoriental calligraphy.

For example, the red stamp that accompanies many of his works derives from Japanese writing techniques, becoming an element of balance and harmony.

After his contribution to the Shirin SS24 collection, in which he presented an original font inspired by the central theme of the line, the artist adds a new piece to the collaboration. This creates a link with Kaito's universe, suspended between folklore and cyberpunk influences: it is the meeting of Japanese and European calligraphy.

An exclusive typographic work takes shape. Barcelona combines the quality of oriental brushwork with Western writing techniques. The result is a dynamic artwork, composed of “shouted” parts, with a lot of pressure, and “whispered” parts, where the stroke is more delicate and worked with the tip of the brush.

The first graphic celebrates Dolly Noire in its abbreviation “DLYNR”, a symbol of our identity, while the second represents the chant to dispel The Parade of One Hundred Demons. In these works, the creative complexity lies in the management of spaces and strokes, playing on classic achromatic colours – white, black and red – in which the artist fully finds herself.
